Try removing any specific elements that only work with that specific topic (the stripes, zebra wording). Take a thorough look at some of the top sellers on themeforest.net. Look especially for layout, spacing, and how fonts are used. The gradients are very contrasty which takes away from the appearence. Try making those much less intense. Times New Roman is generally recognized as a generic boring font. It can be used well for sure, but try to stay away from it. Arial, Verdana, Lucida Sans, or Georgia are good choices. Something worthwhile to do is find a great looking design, then try to replicate it (for your own learning, definitely don't try to resell it). Keep at it, the only way to improve is practice! The "What We Do" seems objectionable, as does the large blue area. The theme colors don't go with the logo's tree colors. I would say change the tree rather than the theme because the theme color is very pretty. Also the brown of the logo text should probably appear somewhere else on the theme or else it appears out of place. 2. I really don't like the bevel on the logo. A simple gradient would probably work better. 3. The shadow on the main image is supposed to make it look as if it's standing, but the green background looks like a surface, not a space, if you know what I mean. Therefore it's kind of illogical for the image to be standing that way. 4. Try adding some text-shadow (like Apple's nav) on the navigation, or the text looks out of place. 5. Something bothers me about the buttons, especially the arrow. I can't put my finger on it. 6. While I can tell you only use 2-3 fonts, it just FEELS like there are too many. I especially dislike the use of the serif. Also try making the button text match other text more. 7. In the 'from the blog' part, the description text should probably be smaller. 8. Nudge the 'who we are' and 'what we do' part a few pixels to the right. I know it's aligned but it's an optical illusion that says it's not. The text on 'who we are' should be more to the right like 'what we do.' 9. Please use more harmonious icons. 10. On the entire thing, you use subtle gradients. But then on the 'learn more' icons you use a sharp glossy effect. I don't like it. 11. the 1, 2, 3 should be closer to the text and could be a few pixels higher up. Wow didn't think I had that much to say. I really like the colors and it looks really pleasing overall. Hope that helped.   -- P.S. The site has been coded in valid CSS3 and XHTML traditional. A large jQuery slider beautifully shows off you latest articles. There are also 4 portfolio pages 2 article styles and a contact form with jQuery validation. The whole site works with or without javascript. Block menu bar and large footer with lots of details in. All the pages are infinitely expandable and self formatting.
